About

Over 15 million viewers saw Nadiya Hussain crowned Great British Bake Off winner in the most-watched TV broadcast of 2015 – and now she is coming to Reading for the Year of Culture.

As part of Reading 2016 Year of Culture’s Nadiya will be coming to Reading Town Hall on 19 June, days after the publication of her first cookbook Nadiya’s Kitchen.

Since winning Bake Off last autumn Nadiya has been asked to bake the Queen’s 90th birthday cake, been praised by David Cameron, become a guest presenter on Loose Women, a reporter for The One Show and now writes a weekly Times food column.

The special ‘Audience with Nadiya Hussain’ event will see her look back on how her life has changed since the nation took her to their hearts and talk about some of her favourite meals. She will also take questions from the audience and sign copies of Nadiya’s Kitchen, which includes recipes such as ‘Churros French Toast’ and ‘Bengali Korma’.

‘An Audience with Nadiya Hussain’ is part of the Reading 2016 June theme of ‘Eat Reading’, which will also include Reading’s annual Eat Reading street food events. The event is the latest of a series of Q&As that have so far included Sir Roger Bannister, designers Coralie Bickford-Smith and Paul Barnes, while George the Poet will be appearing on 21 April at RYND and Lucy Worsley and Craig Revel-Horwood still to come in May and November respectively.

Tom Ryan of Reading 2016, said: “The Audience With events so far have been really well attended and we expect a great turnout for Nadiya. We are genuinely excited to have Nadiya as our ‘Audience with’ guest just three days after her book comes out. She is the perfect fit for June’s Eat Reading.”

Please note that this event will take place in The Victoria Hall (within The Town Hall) not The Concert Hall as previously advertised.
