About

Coming to Reading this June as part of Reading Year of Culture, world-renowned food artists Sam Bompas and Harry Parr will be celebrating Reading’s rich and extraordinary biscuit heritage with a one-off wondrous event, ‘Canvas of Crumbs; the Reading Biscuit Experience’, sponsored by Great Western Railway (GWR).

Bompas & Parr will be bringing their expertise in flavour-based experience design, culinary research, architectural installations and contemporary food design to Reading during June’s Eat Reading to create a biscuit experience that will immerse visitors in the seductive world of the biscuit.

Bompas & Parr have created immersive flavour-based experiences including an inhabitable cloud of gin and tonic, the world’s first multi-sensory fireworks, a Taste Experience for the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, and most recently the British Museum of Food.

They have worked with some of the world’s biggest companies and foremost cultural institutions with exhibitions at London’s Barbican Art Gallery, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Victoria & Albert Museum, among others.

Bompas and Parr said: “We are obsessed with biscuits. As home to Huntley & Palmers, the first ever global biscuit brand, Reading holds a unique place in Britain’s biscuit heritage and we are therefore really excited about creating a twenty-first century biscuit experience in homage to the town’s glorious baking past.”

Canvas of Crumbs will take place at the 3Bs in Reading Town Hall.
