Hot Mikado

Venue: Hexagon Theatre (Directions)

Wed 25 May to Sat 28 May

Book and lyrics adapted by DAVID H BELL
Music adapted and arranged by ROB BOWMAN
Based on ‘The Mikado’ by WS GILBERT and ARTHUR SULLIVAN

In the Japanese town of Titipu, a young woman named Yum Yum, a wandering minstrel called Nanki-Poo and Ko-Ko, the Lord High Executioner, find themselves in a comical love-triangle.
With action taking place in an American ‘Cotton Club’ style setting, which also looks remarkably Japanese, find out what happens when the calm tradition of Japan collides with American sass and attitude.

Hot Mikado fuses an eclectic mix of musical styles and influences, with big numbers such as 'Three Little Maids', 'I've Got A Little List' and 'A Wandering Minstrel I', giving the rock, blues, swing and hot gospel treatment.
Bursting with toe tapping lindy-hop, jazz and tap dance numbers, this show isn't just sizzling - it's hot!
