CASUAL TECHNICIANS

RG2 (SCP 11) £8.04 per hour
Casual work, on an ‘as and when’ basis

The Reading Arts Technical department are looking for Casual Technicians for our autumn season, to work on all types of performances and events at The Hexagon Theatre, Concert Hall and South Street. 
The events include plays, classical concerts, rock and pop concerts, ballet, comedy, variety, pantomime and conferences.

Your responsibilities will include:
•   assisting with unloading and loading of scenery and equipment
•   working on performances and theatre format changes
•   assisting with maintenance and general upkeep of technical areas and equipment.

You’ll be working long, unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays, as and when required. There will be some heavy manual work, carrying heavy equipment and scenery and work at height up to and including 10 metres.

We are looking for people with a genuine interest in the performing arts and entertainment industry, who are hardworking, enthusiastic and able to show initiative. No qualification is required, a full clean driving licence is desirable. Your timekeeping must be exemplary.

The Council is committed to paying a Living Wage to staff. The Living Wage is currently £8.25 per hour.
f appointed to a spinal point with an hourly rate of less that £8.25, a supplement will be paid to staff  to bring the salary up to that amount. The supplement is at the discretion of the Council and can be changed or withdrawn at any time in the future.

The Reading Arts Technical department are looking to recruit enthusiastic, experienced Electrical and Stage Technicians for our autumn season, to work on all types of performances and events at The Hexagon Theatre, Reading Concert Hall and South Street Arts Centre. The events include plays, classical concerts, rock and pop concerts, ballet, comedy, variety, pantomime and conferences.

You will be responsible for setting up, preparation and operation of lighting, sound and AV equipment and stage management to a high standard. To assist with get-ins, fit-ups, performances, get-outs and turnarounds, including maintenance and general upkeep of all technical areas and equipment.

You’ll be working long, unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays, as and when required. There will be some heavy manual work and working at heights. You will also be supervising Casual Technicians. Working knowledge of hemp flying is desirable. No qualifications necessary, but significant relevant experience required and a full clean driving licence is desirable. Your timekeeping must be exemplary.
