About

A brand new show about family, fandom and formations, from the team that brought you 'Jackson's Corner' & 'Kaspar'.

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death… I can assure you it is much, much more important than that." Bill Shankly

Everything rides on this
The biggest game of the season
Win and we're heroes
Lose and...
You need to be able to look yourself in the eye at the final whistle.

Set against the backdrop of Reading’s FA Cup triumph over West Brom earlier this year, the show takes a humorously poignant look at what it means to be a fan, through the highs and lows in the history of Reading Football club.

Specially commissioned & produced by South Street for Sitelines & Reading's Year of Culture 2016.

Written & performed by Benedict Sandiford
Directed by Cassie Friend (RedCape Theatre)
Produced by South Street

Reviews

  • "...a seamless, humorous and touching forty minute whirlwind tour of the fascinating Jackson's Store and its long history."

    GetReading (On Jackson's Corner)
  • "Kaspar is played by Sandiford with poise and great sincerity... [his] delivery is very focussed, economical and compelling as he shifts from character to character."

    British Theatre Guide (on Kaspar)
  • "Ghosts of the past seem to emerge, to tenderly haunt our everyday. At the end of the performance ... we become part of Jackson’s history and it is suddenly moving... We linger around once the performance has ended, not quite able to leave.

Total Theatre Magazine (on Jacksons Corner)
