South StreetBaby Dee
Thu 27 Mar 2008 8pm doors The American performance artist and singer/songwriter visits Reading as part of her tour to promote latest release 'Safe Inside the Day' As part of the New York scene she has worked with many artists including Anthony And The Johnsons. 'She accompanies herself on piano, accordion and harp, essaying bawdy comic songs and affecting hymns to the state of childhood and its tarnished innocence. These she sings in a voice that veers between Shirley Temple and Dame Vera Lynn; from baby doll precociousness to soaring mezzo-soprano, often within a single phrasing. All that is to say, Baby Dee is an original' Tickets: £7 Subject to booking fee |
