Town HallJazz at the Town Hall: Troyka
Wednesday 13 February, 7.30pm Kit Downes organ & piano, Chris Montague guitars & loops, Joshua Blackmore drums. With a spare but powerful line-up of keyboards, guitars and drums, in this concert Troyka will feature tunes from MOXXY, their new, second album of highly accessible fusion/electronica. Troyka is adept at creating arresting tunes that mix funky grooves, electronic experimentation and gossamer-light melodies with refreshing aplomb. 'Three of the most important young British jazz musicians we have in this country. The melodic quality of their song writing has moved on a lot in this new album.' Jamie Cullum 'Troyka is a unique trio that rises to the top of the UK scene. They exhibit a jazz sensibility that involves deep improvisation and complex composition, all imbued with a savage attack and impressively substantial mood-sculpting.'
