Say Thank You to the First World War Generation.

As part of the commemorations marking 100 years since the end of the First World War, the Hexagon is proud to present 'Reading At War'.
A unique display exploring the lives and experiences of people in the town during the Great War.

The exhibition features a set of images drawn together in striking montages by the award winning graphic artist Paul McEvoy.  Taken from a variety of local and national archives following a program of research led by Reading Museum in partnership with Reading’s leading military and local historians.  Conjuring up a picture of how Reading endured four years of this brutal conflict and struggle at home and on foreign fields.  It includes stories of individual acts of heroism and tragic tales of loss, together with an account of the hopefulness and celebration that engulfed the people of Reading when an armistice was finally agreed in November 1918.

This panel display was first shown as part of the Reading At War exhibition at Reading Museum in 2014.
