South Street Youth Theatre

Join Reading's most dynamic Youth Theatre hosted at the newly refurbished South Street

South Street Youth Theatre offers young people the opportunity to develop drama skills in a relaxed and fun environment. Led by experienced, professional tutors the groups will work towards performances which are then staged at South Street's professionally run main theatre space.

The emphasis is on the imagination and creativity of the young people, so all their performances are devised, written and performed by them in collaboration with the directors. As well as performing at South Street, in recent years the young people have taken a show to the Edinburgh Fringe, created a show for a bus and a "promenade" performance through South Street.

Our Saturday morning Junior groups are led by Jo Hodder, a vastly experienced primary school teacher and drama practitioner, who has been with us for over 15 years.

The senior groups, who meet on Monday nights, are directed by Benedict Sandiford whose CV includes a wide variety of professional theatre, TV & film credits as well as writing & performing four shows for South Street's professional programme (Jackson's Corner, Kaspar, The Final Whistle & - with The Hexagon - The Great British Bump Off).
